Loaded down with new clothes for school as part of ChildSpree, volunteer shopping chaperone and recipient reflect their joy in smiles.
"Let's go shopping"...an always welcomed invitation to most kids. Unfortunately, a segment of the population doesn't hear those words very often. But, this was not the case for a few happy and grateful local area children.

In collaboration with the Burbank Jaycee, the Burbank Noon Lions once again helped financially support ChildSpree, which assists in preparing low income children for school. Since 1992, the California Jaycees have been taking underprivileged children shopping for clothes as part of a statewide partnership with Mervyns Department Stores. The Burbank Jaycees took part in the project along with community volunteers.

Children identified by the Burbank Boys & Girls Club and the Glendale YWCA went shopping for much needed jackets, shoes, and back to school clothes. The volunteers served as individual chaperons to take each of the 38 children shopping and provided them with individual attention, $100 worth of clothing and a backpack filled with school supplies.
